Teen arrested after gang task force search at Fitzgerald apartment complex
Sheriff’s office says additional charges could be sought in connection with other recent cases

FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) — A 17-year-old is facing multiple charges after Ben Hill County law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at a local apartment complex Wednesday, July 15.
According to the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Fitzgerald Police Department and the sheriff’s office joint Gang Task Force served the warrant at the Village of Ben Hill Apartment complex on July 15.
Detectives arrested Samuel Brice Powers, 17, at the scene. Powers is charged with:
- Multiple counts of violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
- Possession of firearm(s) during the commission of a felony
- Sale of illegal narcotics
Powers was transported to the Ben Hill County Jail.
The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are continuing to investigate. Additional charges could be sought, and the case may be connected to other recent cases, according to the sheriff’s office.
