Georgia nonprofit offers $300 classroom grants for new Title 1 teachers
School Is In launches Back-to-School campaign, seeking teacher applications and community donations through Aug. 1.
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Georgia nonprofit is helping Title 1 teachers prepare for the new school year by offering classroom grants and asking the community to support local educators.
School Is In, a nonprofit that serves Title 1 schools across Georgia, has launched its annual Back-to-School campaign, which includes $300 classroom grants for eligible teachers.
Organizers say many new Title 1 teachers begin the school year without basic classroom supplies and often spend their own money on materials that are never reimbursed.
The organization is encouraging new Title 1 teachers to apply for the grants while also asking community members to donate to help fund additional awards.
School Is In partners with school districts across Georgia to support educators working in communities where many families cannot afford to provide classroom supplies.
Donations for the Back-to-School campaign will be accepted through Aug. 1, with proceeds helping provide grants and classroom resources for teachers serving students in Title 1 schools.
Teachers can learn more about available grant opportunities, and community members can donate, by visiting School Is In’s website here.
