Humane Society, authorities seek information after mother dog and puppies abandoned in Worth County

WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Best Friends Humane Society in Worth County is asking for the public’s help after a mother dog and her nine newborn puppies were abandoned overnight on Mossy Oaks Road.
According to the organization, the dogs were found inside a milk crate. An elderly couple who lives at the home reported nearly being attacked while taking out their trash, as the mother dog became protective of her puppies.
Officials say abandoning animals is a crime in Georgia. Worth County Animal Control and the Worth County Sheriff’s Office are working to safely recover the dog and puppies.
Anyone with information is urged to contact animal control or the Worth County Sheriff’s Office.
