SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) — The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is working to improve Georgia’s infrastructure and is seeking public input to make informed decisions.

An upcoming GDOT meeting will discuss the agency’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

The STIP program helps GDOT create a four-year improvement plan for roadways and other capital investments around the state. This program focuses on major projects outside metropolitan areas.

The meeting will cover state and federal priorities, funding, technical analysis, input from local governments, regional partners, and public interests.

GDOT says the STIP program encourages stakeholders and the public to participate to shape tax dollar spending in the 2027-2030 cycle.

The meeting will be held on July 27, 2026, in Sylvester. It begins at 5 p.m. at the Margaret Jones Public Library, located at 205 E. Pope St., Sylvester, GA 31791.
