BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) — Cod Tail of Albany got an 84 on its recent food service inspection on Monday, July 13.

Cod Tail got a total of four infractions; all of them were new violations, two of them were corrected during the inspection, and the remaining two are to be corrected by Thursday, July 23.

Nessa’s Southern Cuisine is celebrating another perfect score. Owner Marius Martin said the family-run food truck recently earned a 100 on its food service inspection — continuing a streak of top marks the business has maintained since it opened more than four years ago.

“We’ve been blessed to be able to get 100s on all our scores so far because we believe in doing things the right way, following the right guidelines that health department gives us,” Martin said.

Martin, an eight-year Navy veteran, started the business with his mother after traveling to food festivals across South Georgia and North Florida. Today, the truck continues to expand its reach — serving customers from Valdosta to Pelham and into Florida, including Madison and Tallahassee, he said.

For Martin, the inspection score is about more than a number.

“That’s the most important thing because we want to make sure that our customers know that we are committed to having a clean facility when we’re working so they come back and they feel comfortable,” he said. “We take pride in that 100 score.”

He credited his family — including his parents — for helping the business stay prepared, noting they stepped in during the most recent inspection when he couldn’t be there.

“It’s an all-hands effort,” Martin said. “My wife, my children, my uncle — just my whole family. We work together and we get it done.”

What’s on the menu

Customers can find a mix of Southern favorites and popular handheld items. Martin said the truck’s biggest seller is its oxtail quesadilla, which regularly sells out.

Other menu highlights include Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, wings with a variety of sauces, fried fish and shrimp, and homemade burgers. Drinks like pineapple lemonade and peach tea are also top sellers, he said.

Looking ahead, Martin said the menu stays mostly consistent, but customers can expect seasonal items like seafood rice and loaded fries to return in the fall, especially during football season.

What’s next

Martin said the long-term goal is to move into a brick-and-mortar location and expand the team beyond family members.

“The future looks like eventually going to a brick-and-mortar and expanding and hiring people that align with us — that aligns with a family-oriented business that have great morals and integrity,” he said.

For updates on where Nessa’s Southern Cuisine will be next, Martin said customers can follow the truck on social media.
