Georgia Lottery raises $1.54 billion for education in fiscal year

ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Gov. Brian P. Kemp on Thursday announced the Georgia Lottery raised $1.54 billion for education in fiscal year 2026.
That brings the total transferred to the State Treasury’s Lottery for Education Account since inception in 1993 to more than $31.3 billion.
Fiscal year 2026 marks the 11th consecutive year the Georgia Lottery has surpassed $1 billion in profits for education, exceeding 2025 profits by $69.5 million.
Adding to the excitement, the Georgia Lottery celebrated its largest prize winner in history with a $983 million Mega Millions jackpot won in Newnan in November and claimed in January.
