GBI arrests 5 suspects in multi-county child sexual abuse investigation
WARE COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Five people have been arrested by the GBI after an investigation into child sexual abuse involving multiple victims in several counties.
The multi-agency investigation was led by the GBI and Ware County Sheriff’s Office, and led to the following arrests:
Theresa Bryant, 55, of Alma - Charged with Sex Trafficking, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, and First Degree Cruelty to a Child
Betty Sue Corbitt, 60, of Waycross - charged with Child Exploitation
Joel Christopher Heath, 42, of Blackshear - charged with Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, Child Exploitation, and Child Molestation
Elizabeth Delk, 48, of Homerville - charged with Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, Child Exploitation, and Child Molestation
Amber Lynn Hult, 45, of West Columbia, SC - charged with Sex Trafficking, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, First Degree Cruelty to a Child, and Incest
The charges come after a Ware County Sheriff’s Office investigation in early June 2026 where Heath was arrested for child molestation. Investigators uncovered evidence of more child victims in multiple counties.
The investigation revealed the crimes took place in Ware County, Bacon County, Charlton County and Clinch County. Sheriff’s offices requests the GBI to look into the case, which led to the four additional arrests.
So far, eight victims have been identified between the ages of three and 13. The investigation is ongoing, law enforcement believes there may be more victims.
