Wet Weather Pattern Settles In: What’s Ahead for the Week
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Monday’s showers and storms came with heavy downpours which resulted in a Flash Flood Warning for a few areas. Estimated rainfall of 5-7″ fell in portions of Randolph and Terrell Counties. This wet weather pattern extends through Wednesday therefore keep an eye on the forecast. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move with more heavy activity Tuesday afternoon.
Tonight and Tuesday: The Wettest Days Ahead
First round of rain and storms wrapping up Monday evening. Rainfall amounts have averaged between a 0.10 and 0.25″ of an inch, though isolated storms have produce higher amounts. Temperatures have dipped into the mid 70s.
Tuesday looks similar, with another round of storms expected mainly after 2 p.m. Highs reach upper 80s staying slightly below average. Again, rainfall amounts around 0.25″ inch are possible, with isolated storms potentially producing more. Tuesday evening brings a third round of storms, mainly before 10 p.m.
What This Means for Your Day
For your commute: If you’re heading out tonight or Tuesday afternoon, have an umbrella and expect wet conditions. The afternoon storms on Tuesday could impact your drive home, so stay weather-aware.
For outdoor plans: If you have outdoor activities scheduled for Tuesday, plan for wet weather. The storms should move through relatively quickly, but the timing is uncertain, so flexibility is key.
For your yard: The rainfall will be beneficial for the area, though some spots could see heavier amounts from individual storms.
Drying Out Midweek
Good news: conditions improve after Tuesday night. Wednesday will see a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then another chance for scattered storms after 2 p.m., but overall it will be mostly sunny with highs upper 80s around 90.
The rest of the week looks warmer and drier, classic summer-time with highs climbing into the low-mid 90s Thursday through Saturday. Each day brings a chance of afternoon storms but nothing like the wet pattern through Tuesday.
