Valdosta City Schools bus rear-ended, no injuries reported
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Valdosta City Schools announced a school bus was rear-ended on Monday, Jan. 27, afternoon at the intersection of Oak Street Extension and Britain Drive.
The bus was transporting middle and high school students at the time of the accident.
The district’s social media post said, “No visible injuries to driver or students on board. All parents have been notified.”
According to Valdosta Police Department traffic incident report the VCS school bus was rear-ended by a Jeep Cherokee.
A witness at the scene told WALB the bus driver used proper signals before the vehicle attempted to pass the bus before it stopped.
VPD issued the driver of the Jeep Cherokee a citation for following too closely.
The report states, “there were two complaints of injury on Unit 2 (school bus).”
Jennifer Steedley, Director of Public Relations said, “We have been told that following the accident some parents elected to take their children for medical assessment. No one was taken by ambulance from the scene.”
