Albany City Commissioners to hold special called meeting on city manager position

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -  Albany City Commissioners are to have a special called meeting to vote on the Albany City Manager position.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Government Center, on 222 Pine Avenue in Downtown Albany, beginning at 6 p.m.

WALB previously reported that on Tuesday, July 23 that the city announced two names as the leading candidates for the position.

Derrick Brown, Albany’s Chief Financial Officer and the current interim city manager was named as one of the candidates, with the other being Terrell Jacobs, who is currently serving as a member services consultant with the Georgia Municipal Association out of Atlanta, according to a city statement.

Steven Carter, the city’s previous city manager, resigned from his role in April. He is now serving as city manager for Portsmouth, Virginia.
