DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

A five-year-old Dougherty County boy is scheduled to be transferred to the pediatric trauma hospital in Macon after overdosing on sleeping pills Saturday afternoon.

Dougherty County Police say about 3:30 pm, first responders were called to the home in the 600 block of Holly Drive.  Police say Hyderia Knight took between 5 to 10 child sleeping pills, that are designed for children who take A.D.H.D. medicine.

Investigators say the five-year-old got the sleeping pills out of a bottle stored in a suitcase in the living room closet, while the family was in the process of moving.  One of six children, a sister, went to the mother to tell her something was wrong with Hyderia.

He was rushed to Phoebe Putney Hospital and is now scheduled to be transferred to the Macon pediatric trauma center.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
