Albany State hosts “50 under 50” event

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

On Saturday night 50 graduates of Albany State University were honored for their accomplishments during a special dinner at the university.

It's all part of the college's "50 under 50" event.

Albany State officials say they want to make sure alumni keep in touch with the university, and show off the accomplishments of their graduates.

"There seems to be a little disconnect, so we are bringing them back into the loop and it has worked well since last year, so we are glad to have them back on campus," says coordinator Sue Polite-Solomon.

"Its an opportunity to be recognized for some of the accomplishments, and to be able to say I have accomplished certain things, and I want to be able to show and share it with others, so that everyone can see the importance of Albany State College," says Tangela Barrie, an Albany State graduate.

The keynote speaker was Dr. C.W. Grant.
