Albany business owner busted in drug raids

Posted: Updated:

An Albany business owner, his employee,  and his girlfriend were arrested on drug charges after investigators say undercover agents bought illegal prescription pills at two stores.

Albany Dougherty Drug Agents raided Will's Used Appliances stores in the 1800 block of East Broad Avenue and 200 block of Johnson Road Thursday.

They found crack and prescription pills at the Johnson Road location.

They arrested owner Willie Sails Junior and Sharon Hobbs there.

Agents found prescription pills on East Broad and arrested Dwain Atkins.

They're charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs.

Albany Dougherty Drug Unit Sgt. Vic Camp said "There was a lot of traffic, foot traffic and vehicle traffic, just for that purpose. To go up there and buy the pills or the crack cocaine."

Investigators seized two guns from Sails' home and charged him and Hobbs with gun violations.

People who live near the East Broad store say they saw frequent drug activity there and thanked drug agents for stopping it.
