Valdosta man arrested for coke, kidnapping

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Lowndes County Sheriff says that deputies arrested a man on cocaine trafficking and sales charges Monday. They set up a drug deal with Bruce Hallman, 35, of St. Augustine Road, and caught him when he tried to escape in his car.
He had a passenger who pleaded with him to stop, but deputies say Hallman would not let that person get out, so a kidnapping charge was added.
Hallman faces these charges: Kidnapping, Use of a communications device in a drug transaction, Obstruction of an officer, Possession of Cocaine with the intent to distribute, Fleeing, and attempting to elude.
Sheriff Chris Prine issued this news release on the arrest-
On Monday afternoon investigators from the Sheriff's Office conducted an undercover operation and arranged for the delivery of the quantity of cocaine.
As agreed to, the person, later identified as Bruce Hallman, 35, of St. Augustine Road arrived to make the delivery. When the investigators approached Hallman who was seated in his vehicle, he began to drive away and a short chase ensued.
During this chase, a passenger in the vehicle with Hallman attempted to exit the vehicle but was unable to due to Hallman's driving. The passenger made several pleas for Hallman to stop but he ignored.
Hallman was eventually stopped and placed under arrest. Investigators recovered approximately $400.00 worth of cocaine.
Hallman was transported to the Lowndes County Jail and will appear Tuesday afternoon in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered.
