LANIER COUNTY, GA -

Investigators are waiting for toxicology reports to confirm whether alcohol or drugs may have been involved in an attempted murder and suicide Saturday in Lanier County.

Investigators say a father shot his daughter and wife, who survived, before he killed himself.

"It was a sight I pray that nobody ever sees," said neighbor Sarah Moyer.

Moyer lives across the street from the Flynn family. Lanier County investigators say Saturday afternoon 50-year-old Mark Flynn shot his wife, 33-year-old Kathy Flynn, and their 5-year-old daughter at their home on Eleanor Place. Flynn then shot and killed himself. Moyer says she ran to the family's home after Kathy yelled for her to help save her daughter.

"She asked me to hold her, and I held her. And I covered where she had been shot and I tired to keep as calm as I could. I just told her to hold on," said Moyer.

Investigators believe an argument escalated into the shooting and drugs and alcohol may have been involved. Deputies also say they don't believe Flynn intended to shoot his daughter. Moyer says she never saw this coming.

"You knew how much they loved each other, you really could see it," said Moyer.

The family's vehicles are still parked in the driveway; officials say the mother and the daughter are in the hospital, and they are expected to survive.

Moyer says she spoke with the little girl on the phone from her hospital room and she remembered Moyer telling her she would buy her pink and purple flowers as she held her on that tragic day.

"Such an incredibly strong little girl, I don't even know if an adult could fight the way that little girl did," said Moyer.

The wife who was shot multiple times is in fair condition at South Georgia Medical Center. The little girl is recovering at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

GBI agents are leading the investigation.

Investigators say it may take a few weeks for the toxicology report to be completed.
