U.S. Postal Service sets holiday deadlines
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - If you want to make sure that your holiday packages arrive on time, then you may want to check the deadlines set by the U.S. Postal Service.
Albany Postmaster Gene Lofton told WALB News 10 that the postal service is going into its peak season.
"We actually started in September, making preparations for what we call peak season," Lofton said.
According to the U.S. Postal Service, the mail carrier has been busy hiring an additional 35,000-40,000 seasonal workers nationwide.
"We've seen an influx of packages going into peak season," Lofton added.
With all of those extra letters, cards, and packages, Lofton said people should be thinking about sending their items early.
The U.S. Postal Service recently released these deadlines for domestic services. In order to make sure that the packages make it to the receiver by December 25th, people should send their items by:
Dec. 15 – USPS Retail Ground
Dec. 20 – First Class Mail
Dec. 21 – Priority Mail
Dec. 23 – Priority Mail Express
Priority Mail Express is the final option and is usually delivered between 1-2 days.
The deadlines above are only for domestic services. For deadlines regarding global shipping or for more information on the U.S. Postal Service, visit their website.
