Braves’ Walt Weiss named NL Manager of the Year finalist
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss is a finalist for the NL Manager of the Year Award, MLB Network announced Monday.
Weiss is a finalist alongside the Phillies’ Don Mattingly and the Brewers’ Pat Murphy, who is vying for his third straight Manager of the Year award.
The Braves promoted Weiss from bench coach to manager following the retirement of Brian Snitker after a 76-win down season in which Atlanta missed the postseason for the first time since 2017. Under Weiss, the team won 94 games and captured its first NL East title since 2023.
Atlanta earned the No. 3 seed in the postseason and took two of three from the Philadelphia Phillies at Truist Park in the National League Wild Card Series before falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a five-game National League Division Series.
The award will be announced Nov. 10. Chris Sale, who is a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award, will find out if he earned his second Cy Young on Nov. 11.
