Rumored data center power plant raises concerns in Mitchell County

CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) — Rumor of a potential power plant in Mitchell County that would supply electricity for data centers in Georgia is raising concerns among residents about the region’s infrastructure and whether it has the capacity to support the project.

In response to community concerns and opposition shared on social media, Mitchell County leaders will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, July 14, at 5 p.m., giving residents an opportunity to ask questions and share their feedback on the potential for data center development.
