ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Braves first baseman Matt Olson broke a franchise record Friday night.

Olson started at first base for the Braves, marking his 741st consecutive appearance for the team. He broke the record set by Dale Murphy in 1986.

Murphy’s 740-game streak began on Sept. 26, 1981, and ended on July 8, 1986.

Olson has yet to miss a game in a Braves uniform. His current streak stands at 869 games, dating back to May 2, 2021, while he was a member of the Athletics.

It is currently the ninth-longest streak in baseball history and more than double the second-longest active streak.
