Mitchell County celebrates third straight track and field title
Camilla community honors Eagles’ GHSA A-II championship with parade
CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) - Fans big and small lined the streets of downtown Camilla to celebrate Mitchell County’s boys’ track and field championship title, the third consecutive for the Eagles.
The team won the GHSA A-II state championship.
“It means a lot. It’s a small town. It’s a lot of people who came out today and supported,” said Darius Robinson, a senior.

Seniors said their final goodbyes during the celebration.
“That’s the man. He put in the hard work. Y’all don’t see it behind the scenes, though. It just gets real serious. Everybody just thinks we’re just going out here just competing, just running on our own. That man, he does a lot for us,” said Jonathan Isom, a senior, referring to coach Jessie Atkins.
“They got some big shoes to fill, but I feel like they’re going to be all right,” said Willie Davies, a senior.
