Valdosta State basketball coach reaches 400-win milestone
Helfer becomes second coach in program history to hit mark
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB)— Valdosta State head basketball coach Mike Helfer recorded his 400th win with the Blazers during Saturday’s overtime victory over Trevecca Nazarene.
Helfer becomes only the second head coach in VSU men’s basketball history to reach the 400-win mark. He sits second all-time with 400 wins, trailing James Dominey by 36 wins. Dominey holds the program record with 436 victories.
The milestone came as the Blazers extended their winning streak to three games with the overtime thriller against Trevecca Nazarene, 113-104.
