Wright earns Player of the Week honors after strong performances
Junior leads Rams to one-point victory over Bulldogs with 18-point effort
SYLVESTER — Junior Kuami Wright has been named WALB’s Player of the Week following his 22-point performance Tuesday and an 18-point effort in the Rams’ one-point victory over the Bulldogs.
Wright scored much of his damage in the paint during the close win, helping the Rams finish region play with victories in their final two games.
The junior said playing against regional competition has elevated his confidence and performance.
“I’m a very confident player. Ever since coming to the region, my confidence has boosted,” Wright said. “Because my brothers, we play as a team, they lift me up and I lift them up.”
Wright credited the team’s aggressive approach and defensive intensity for their recent success.
“Man, we’ve been real aggressive. My team, we picked it up from the start,” Wright said. “You know, we play defense early. And coming into the second half, we just going at them, going at them. They were tired. About the second half, we just had to keep running them and running them.”
The Rams completed their region schedule with the victory.
