10-year-old arrested for ‘intentionally’ shooting 8-year-old, police say

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB/Gray News) — A 10-year-old boy in Louisiana was arrested after police said they believe he intentionally shot an 8-year-old earlier this month.

The shooting happened in Alexandria on Dec. 6.

Initially, the Alexandria Police Department said they thought the shooting was accidental. But after further investigation, they determined it was intentional.

The 10-year-old was arrested for aggravated second-degree battery and juvenile in possession of a handgun.

He was placed in the Renaissance Home, a nonprofit organization providing juvenile support services.

The day of the shooting, the 8-year-old was listed in critical condition at a local hospital. An update on the child’s current condition has not been released.
