Woman discovers man hiding in trunk of driverless Waymo taxi when ordering ride
LOS ANGELES (KCAL) - Los Angeles police said they are looking into why a man was in the trunk of a Waymo vehicle when he should not have been.
A mother in Southern California said she ordered a Waymo for her daughter that afternoon.
She shared the concerning situation in a TikTok video that has since garnered a lot of attention.
The clip starts with the Waymo vehicle’s door open and a man lying in the trunk area behind the back seat.
The woman can be heard questioning him about what he was doing before Los Angeles police eventually detained the man on the sidewalk.
Waymo called the incident unacceptable and said it is making changes to prevent anything like this from happening again.
“We are committed to keeping our riders safe and earning the trust of the communities where we operate,” Waymo said in a statement.
