Fort Valley State University brings “Ag”cellence to the 2025 Sunbelt Ag Expo
MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) - Fort Valley State University (FVSU) is gearing up to be a prominent presence at the upcoming 2025 Sunbelt Ag Expo, where the HBCU will highlight its land-grant mission in research, Extension, and agricultural education under the banner “Experience ‘Ag’cellence.”
A State Spotlight and a Platform to Shine
This year, with Georgia as the Spotlight State, FVSU is capitalizing on the opportunity to showcase innovations and resources across six locations at the Expo. The university’s participation reflects its dual role as an educational institution and as an extension service provider with deep ties to local and regional farming communities.
What FVSU Will Bring to the Expo Grounds
From past years, FVSU’s Extension arm has offered a wide suite of services during the Expo: soil analysis, producer advice, record-keeping workshops, and nutritional and consumer education through its Family & Consumer Sciences division. Visitors have been known to stop by the FVSU building at the Expo not just for technical assistance—but even to sample the university’s goat milk ice cream.
This year, the program suggests that FVSU will expand its reach across multiple exhibit locations, bringing together its agricultural research, outreach, and student networks to interact with Expo attendees. In addition to static exhibits, the university may host informational sessions, demonstrations, and engagement activities aimed at farmers, youths, and community stakeholders.
Why FVSU’s Presence Matters
- Bridging Education & Practice: As a land-grant institution, FVSU’s role is to translate research into practical tools and knowledge for growers, agribusinesses, and rural communities.
- Engaging Next Generation: Through on-site interaction with students, 4-H and FFA participants, and young professionals, FVSU can strengthen its recruitment, mentorship, and outreach pipelines.
- Regional Relevance: With deep roots in Georgia agriculture, FVSU’s Extension services are well positioned to address local crop, soil, nutrition, and economic challenges facing farmers in South Georgia.
- Institutional Visibility: Expo is a major agricultural event. Having a strong footprint across multiple exhibit locations amplifies FVSU’s brand and the contributions of its faculty, staff, and students.
Attendees are encouraged to look for FVSU’s multiple “Experience ‘Ag’cellence” stations and visit to learn more about their programs, connect with experts, or participate in demos. This year’s Sunbelt Ag Expo offers the university a prime stage to reinforce the link between academic research, extension service, and the lived realities of agriculture in Georgia and beyond.
