2 charged in burglary at Pepi’s Food Mart in Tifton
TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - Two men have been charged in connection with a burglary at Pepi’s Food Mart in Tifton.
The burglary happened on Thursday, Sept. 4, at around 10:15 a.m., according to the Tifton Police Department (TPD).
The suspects were identified as Aarinton Griffin, 36, of Roswell, Ga., and Labrinzo Stephens, 48, of Atlanta, Ga.
TPD officers were able to trace Griffin and Stephens based on video surveillance footage. They were seen getting out of a black, newer-model Chevrolet Blazer and went into the store at around 7:15 a.m.
One of the men was caught on video distracting the cashier while the other appeared to be breaking into the office and stealing a large sum of cash, TPD said.
Both Griffin and Stephens were seen leaving the store. They appeared to merge on the I-75 northbound.
TPD thanked the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office and their patrol for locating the two men.
Both Griffin and Stephens are being charged with one count of burglary in the second degree.
