Police: Assistant principal intervenes after teen ‘unlawfully’ enters Brooks County High, threatens student
The teen was not a student at the high school, according to the Brooks County Schools’ Police Department

BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - Criminal charges are pending after a 17-year-old allegedly “unlawfully” entered Brooks County High School, threatened a student and got into an altercation with a school administrator Wednesday, according to the Brooks County Schools Police Department.
The news from the police comes after a video circulated on social media, appearing to show the administrator slamming the teen to the ground. WCTV is working to verify that video, and it hasn’t been added to this story for legal reasons.
The teen was not a student at the high school, according to a letter from Brooks County Schools‘ police department, posted on the school district’s Facebook page Friday morning.
Charges, including assault and making terroristic threats, are pending at this time in connection to the incident, according to police.
The chief of police, Casey Cope, also confirmed to WCTV Thursday that officials are investigating the incident that unfolded at the high school Wednesday morning involving the teen and the school administrator.
The incident unfolded just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, after the teen “unlawfully” entered the high school’s campus to “physically confront a student and proceeded to initiate an altercation with a school administrator,” according to the police’s letter.
As the teen entered the campus, police said the teen immediately began using threatening and profane language directed toward a student.
The teen’s loud and aggressive behavior gained attention from staff members, who police said did not recognize him.

An assistant principal then acted swiftly to seize the 17-year-old and prevent him from entering the school, according to the police department. However, the letter wrote that he refused to comply, refused to identify himself, aggressively attempted to access the school and “ultimately assaulted the school administrator.”
Moments later, police said the assistant principal restrained the teen using a “bear-hug-style maneuver” in response. As the teen continued resisting, the assistant principal then maintained control after bringing him to the ground until Major Ross with the school district’s police department arrived, the letter wrote.
The teen’s mother told WCTV Thursday that her son’s back is sore and he has some scratches.
Police declined to share the administrator’s name Thursday. They also have not said if the administrator will face discipline or if he’s allowed on campus during the investigation.
