Douglas funeral home owner faces additional charges
Chris Johnson was already charged with 17 charges
DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) - Chris Johnson, the owner of the funeral home in Douglas that’s been the center of a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) case, is now facing additional charges on top of the 17 he was already facing.
Johnson is now also charged with three counts of violation of vital records registration and one count of theft by taking, according to Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Fred Cole. WALB is working to find out what these charges are in reference to.
Johnson is still facing 17 counts of abusing a dead body.
His bond hearing has officially been pushed back to Dec. 5. He is still being housed in a facility outside of Coffee County.
In October, Johnson was arrested and charged after 18 decomposing bodies and two pets were discovered at his funeral home.
Several local funeral homes have teamed up to offer victims free memorial services as the GBI continues identifying family members.
