Berrian has now been charged:
- Felony murder
- Aggravated assault
- Tampering with evidence
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Tift County Coroner Josh Hendrix identified the victim to WALB earlier on Tuesday.
Berrian is currently in the Tift County Jail.
The Tifton Police Department tells WALB that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) will be working on this investigation.
Angela Terry, Jones’s mother, says days after her son was murdered, she still has so many unanswered questions.
“[Jayquawn] will give you anything he’s got. And the ones that he helped out, they turned around and turned on him. That’s just something I don’t understand because he would help you and give you anything. I just don’t understand why they took my baby,” Terry said.

Terry said she believes it’s time for her community to work together and take action so other parents don’t have to go through the pain she’s experiencing.

“If the community can come together as one, it could be better but with everyone against everybody it’s never going to work,” Terry said.
