Dry stretch continues into October

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - September 2024 goes in the record books as the 2nd wettest on record in Albany. Rainfall for the month 12.25″ just 2″ inches shy of the the record 14.25 set in 1998.

Dry stretch extends into October, which on average is the driest month of the year with just under 3.00″ inches of rain. Dry through Thursday with rain returning on Friday as a front slides across the region. Also, tropical moisture from the Gulf pushing into the region.

Hurricane season remains active over the Atlantic with most systems remaining over the open waters not impacting any land. However there’s a broad area of low pressure in the western Caribbean. NHC has outlined the western Caribbean into the southern Gulf for a medium 40% chance of tropical development over the next 7 days. We’re watching and will keep you updated SGA!

For now a sun/cloud mix with warm mid-upper 80s through Thursday. Scattered to isolated showers and cooling into the low 80s even upper 70s through the weekend.
