Search party held for missing man, former Albany city commissioner

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A search party is being held for former city commissioner Kenderson Hill who went missing on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Hill was last seen leaving his residence at around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday. Later that day, the Albany Police Department (APD) determined Hill to be a “critical missing person.”

The search party began at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, for the 64-year-old.

About 20 family members and friends came out to search for Hill. They split up, some went door-to-door while others hung up fliers.

The Albany Police Department’s (APD) Criminal Investigations Bureau was also in the area on four-wheelers. APD searched the wooded areas and the riverfront.

Hill served as Albany’s city commissioner from 1995-2000. He continued to stay very involved in the Albany community even after leaving office. The family says they will continue to search for Kenderson every day until he is found. His sister, Gwendolyn, is appreciative for the community’s support.

“First of all, thank you for your prayers. Thank you for those that came out for the search party today. Thank you to the police department here, especially the chief of police and his encouraging of those policemen to come out of do great work. I just want to thank everyone, most of all, for the prayers,” she said.

The family told WALB that they will be searching every day until he was found.

Police say that Hill was last seen wearing a beige hat, black jacket, black shirt, and black slides.

APD’s lead investigator will hold a press conference regarding Hill’s disappearance at 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 at the police department.
