Bainbridge named ‘Downtown of the Year’

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Downtown Bainbridge was named the ‘Downtown of the Year’ at the Georgia Downtown Association annual awards ceremony.
This ceremony took place on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
In a post to Facebook, the city of Bainbridge said that they would use this accolade as inspiration to keep moving forward.
In addition to Bainbridge being named Downtown of the Year, a few other South Georgia cities also received awards. The cities awarded are:
- Award of Excellence for Best Facade Rehabilitation goes to the city of Tifton for the 122 East Fifth Street Rehabilitation.
- Award of Excellence for Best Placemaking Project goes to the city of Thomasville for the African Americans and the Arts project.
- Award of Excellence for Premier Special Event goes to the city of Hahira for their Father & Daughter Dance.
- Award of Excellence for Premier Partner goes to the city of Thomasville for their Thomasville Center for the Arts.
