SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA/Gray News) - Plastic surgeon Dr. Benjamin Brown, 41, was arrested Monday and charged with manslaughter by culpable negligence following the death of his wife after a procedure at his clinic.

The charge is also described as second-degree felony homicide, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Hillary Brown, 33, died a week after a procedure last November at Restore Plastic Surgery in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

Authorities said she suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to a hospital to receive medical care, where she was later put on life support. She died Nov. 28, 2023.

After an extensive investigation in conjunction with the District One Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office, detectives with the sheriff’s office requested a warrant for Brown’s arrest, the sheriff’s office said.

He is currently being held in the county jail pending an initial court appearance where a bond will be determined.
