2 arrested, 1 injured in altercation turned shooting in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Two men were arrested in connection to an altercation between relatives that led to a shooting in on Tuesday, April 30.

At around 5:30 p.m., officers with the Albany Police Department responded to the 1000 block of W. 1st Avenue in reference to a shooting, according to APD.

Upon arrival, officials say there was an altercation between Dontavious Ford, 18, Dontiea Ford, 19, and a 17-year-old male. The altercation resulted in the 17-year-old victim sustaining a gunshot wound.

The 17-year-old was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for his injuries and is in stable condition, according to police.

Dontavious and Dontiea were taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, and tampering with evidence, police say.

Both are being held at the Dougherty County Jail.
