Thomasville ranks high in USA Today’s 10Best Lists for best Southern small town and food scene

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) - The city of Thomasville is receiving national attention, after having secured a top position in USA Today’s 10Best lists.
The city clinched the second spot for “Best Small Town in the South in 2024.” According to a release from the city, USA Today credited Thomasville as having a “quaint, timeless charm and diverse food scene featuring Southern specialties and traditional comfort food, welcoming guests to experience a vast range of dining delights.”
A panel of travel experts and editors crafted the lists, allowing readers to vote daily for their favorites over a month. Lewisburg, West Virginia emerged as the winner in the “Best Small Town Food Scene 2024″ category, with Thomasville closely following in third place.
USA Today commended Thomasville for its timeless charm and diverse culinary offerings, inviting visitors to savor various Southern delicacies and traditional comfort fare.
Thomasville’s position in the list of “Best Small Town in the South 2024″ category showcases towns with populations under 25,000. The publication highlighted Thomasville’s rich history and bustling downtown adorned with specialty shops and local eateries.
Starkville, Mississippi, and Batesville, Arkansas topped this year’s list. April Norton, the city of Thomasville’s managing director of marketing and communications expressed pride in the city’s achievement saying, “Locals and visitors know how tasteful Thomasville’s culinary scene is and the value of our vibrant small town, so it’s a wonderful accomplishment for USA Today travel experts to include us on each of these lists. It’s an even greater accomplishment to know that people across the country voted Thomasville to the top of each list, a true testament to the charm and quality of Thomasville’s culinary scene and small town ambiance.”
USA Today revealed the 10Best results on Wednesday, April 10, with Thomasville standing out as the only Georgia city to earn spots in both the best small town and best food scene categories.
