LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - You can definitely feel the love in the air. Congratulations to Mary Faye Todd and Woodrow Daughtry on being crowned King and Queen of the Oaks at Oakland Plantation. For both Daughtry and Todd, the crown is more than just a jewel bestowed upon their heads.

“It’s a great honor to be loved by so many people,” said Todd.

At 94 years old, Mary Faye is a mother of four children and grandmother to eight grandchildren. She was married twice, but both of her husbands passed away over three decades ago.

Daughtry, a 102-year-old World War II veteran, is a proud father of three boys, grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of nine. He lost his wife six years ago.

The Oaks at Oakland Plantation has been naming a new king and queen for the last five years, bringing smiles and joy to those who thought their time for love had already passed.

“We were married 75 years and she was a great wife and partner. She was the valentine of my life,” said Daughtry. “I think it’s a really good way for them to show their support, and then pass something along that’s so monumental for them,” said Melody Smith, assistant living lifestyle director for the Oaks at Oakland Plantation.

As for what the new king and queen plan to do with their new titles...

“I’m just going to treat everybody like I want to be treated,” said Daughtry.

“Just continue to try to serve and love the people,” said Todd.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
