VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - The parents of Kendrick Johnson, the late teen whose body was found inside a rolled-up gym mat in Lowndes County in 2013, have filed a misconduct complaint with the Georgia State Bar.

An official complaint has been filed against James Elliot of Elliott and Blackburn Law Firm in Valdosta. He is the lead counsel for the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office in the Johnsons’ now $2.5 billion complaint against several entities.

Kendrick’s death investigation has been closed since 2022 when the sheriff’s office ruled it an accident. The Johnsons have always believed their son was murdered.

The complaint states Georgia Code 16-10-20.1 makes it, “unlawful to alter, conceal, cover-up, or create a document and file…false, fictitious, or fraudulent information.”

It continues to say that Elliott provided a “November 9, 2023 response, which included an altered report. Page 4 clearly blurred so the information is not legible.”

This complaint is one of many the Johnsons have filed recently. The complaint also adds that the family did not receive the documents that they requested over several months.

WALB did reach out to Elliott and Blackburn Law Firm for comment but we have not heard back just yet.
