AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Americus runner Charlene Pennymon is getting ready for yet another exciting adventure in Boston.

Pennymon is preparing to run in her fifth consecutive Boston Marathon.

“I am just ecstatic about being able to step foot on the very course that has had so many legends to grace it long before me,” Pennymon said.

Last year, the runner completed the marathon in under four hours.

“The weather was a little warm for Boston. I am praying for cooler weather to conquer 26.2 miles,” Pennymon said.

Throughout the years, Pennymon has asked for the support of her community to help her get to Massachusetts.

The runner said the cost is usually around $3,500.

Those interested in helping Pennymon can call her at 229-942-5903.

“As a five-time consecutive runner of the Boston Marathon, I feel like I am representing my town, my community, South Georgia even,” Pennymon added.

The 2017 Boston Marathon is set for Monday, April 17th, 2017.
