Crisp Co. dad arrested for child abuse

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Crisp County Sheriff's Office says that Billy Ray Cook, Jr.,  the child's father, has been charged with Cruelty to Children in the first degree.

He was taken to jail and has since posted bond and been released.

The Crisp County Sheriff issued this release-

According to Lt. Teresa Miller with the Crisp County Investigative Division the Sheriff's office was notified of possible child abuse against a 4 month old child.

Medical staff advised that child suffered multiple fractures in various stages of healing.

After an extensive interview with the parents of the child, an arrest was made.

Twenty Three year old Billy Ray Cook, Jr., of 2116 Eisenhower Street, Cordele Georgia, the child's father, has been charged with Cruelty to Children in the 1st degree.

The investigation continues with the possibility of additional charges.

    Here in Southwest Georgia the American Red Cross has been working the last couple of days to prepare for the storm.  The American Red Cross has been getting their relief supplies ready across the 19 county region.
