ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police are patrolling neighborhoods on bicycles to get closer to people in the community.

Thursday, three officers pedaled around the Jackson Street and Highland Avenue area in central Albany.

The officers say they may notice suspicious activity they wouldn't normally see from patrol cars.

They say having a bicycle presence in high crime areas will make a difference.

"It's a great tool we actually been stripped by numerous people inquiring about what we have going on, asking questions and things like that. It's going pretty good so far," said Demetrious Kendrick.

Officers will continue the bike patrols in neighborhoods through the holidays.
