Valdosta - Convicted killer Keller Wilcox is a free man.

The 57 year-old Wilcox was released from Georgia State Prison in Reidsville Wednesday.

He served 26 years for the murder of Hellen Hanks.

Hanks worked as a secretary for Wilcox' father in Valdosta. She disappeared in 1972 and her body was found in a field in 1980.

Years later, Wilcox admitted he lost his temper and killed her.

Wilcox is banned from Lowndes County and from any contact with the Hanks family.
