Albany -- Drug agents run prostitution stings at Albany motels and mobile home parks.  Albany Dougherty Drug Unit Commander Major Derrell Smith said "it's an ongoing problem that we have been getting complaints on."

In all, nine people were arrested in the Wednesday night sting. The drug agents, posing as johns, arrested three women for prostitution at the Mabry Motel on Slappey. One was arrested at the Ogelthorpe Motel. They also arrested two men for pimping, Mallory Monroe and Gary Taylor.

In East Albany at two mobile home parks they arrested four prostitutes,  three women and 22 year old Raynaldo Blanco, a man dressed as a woman. Major Smith said "a couple of weeks ago the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office did a similar type sting, where they were attempting to get some of the johns off the street. Last night our sting was more focused toward the prostitutes."

The prostitution and pimping charges are all misdemeanors. The arrested were given two thousand dollar bonds.

Major Smith said his agents, along with the other law enforcement agencies in Dougherty County, will continue these undercover operations against prostitution, because the people involved are often closely tied to drug trafficking.
