LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Some people in Southwest Georgia may rest a little more comfortably Saturday after purchasing new beds at a fundraiser that will help over 100 Lee County band students go to the 2019 Sugar Bowl.
Lee County High School's band program held a mattress fundraiser Saturday to help their students play at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans next January.
The band was one of 10 bands in the nation selected to go.
The school partnered with Custom Fundraising Solutions to help sell beds that will help them reach their $10,000 goal.
"These students are looking for an opportunity to get some nation exposure and fun. It's a chance to go down to New Orleans and perform at the Superdome and they're one of ten bands in the nation to get this opportunity. These students will never get this opportunity again in High School and so it's a really good thing," said Ronald Hill, Director of Bands at Lee County High School.
The band program will use funds raised at the mattress sale to fully pay for the trip.
The Lee County band will leave for New Orleans on December 29th for the Sugar Bowl that will happen on New Years day.
