AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - If you're heading to Downtown Americus tonight, you may notice a familiar sound in the air as you walk down the street.
The city's wireless speaker system throughout the downtown area was recently taken offline to undergo a few upgrades.
Americus Mayor Barry Blount said it's good to have the speakers working again.
"It just adds to ambiance of our downtown. Enjoy shopping and dining and just walking around the streets of downtown Americus. And we're very fortunate to have that system in place," said Blount.
The system was installed about a year ago.
Blount says visitors have enjoyed listening to music during the day and at night.
There are 10 sets of two speakers all around downtown.
