AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of a crash that left one person dead in Americus.
Sumter County Coroner Greg Hancock confirmed one person died due to blunt force trauma.
GSP Trooper Alec Davis said Anthony Lowe, 59, was the person who died in the accident.
The crash happened in the 1700 block of East Lamar, near Lowes Home Improvement just before 7 p.m. on Monday, August 27.
Davis said three vehicles were involved, but one of the drivers left the scene. According to Davis, finding the hit and run driver has been delayed because the person borrowed the van they were driving and ran off after abandoning the vehicle.
Two of the cars involved were a Honda CR-V and an Oldsmobile Intrigue.
First responders were on the scene shortly after the crash and they are still investigating the cause.
