ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A crosswalk is coming soon to a very busy intersection in Albany.
The mayor and city commissioners approved a contract with Jim Boyd Construction to provide traffic signals and street improvements on Westover Boulevard and Gillionville Road, for a total expenditure of $554,057.00.
The project will be funded by SPLOST VI.
The project consists of the installation of additional turning lanes, new upgraded traffic signal and control equipment, pole relocation and installation and pavement markings and sign relocation. The total price consists of Part 1 for paving, grading and drainage totaling to $188,080.00 and Part 2 for pavement markings and signs totaling to $57,577.00.
"I am very excited and the whole area is excited about these intersection improvements," said Roger Marietta, City Commissioner of Ward IV. "We must do everything we can to make this high traffic area safe for vehicles and pedestrians. I want to publicly thank our City Manager, Sharon Subadan, and our city staff for bringing this project to fruition."
