LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol responded to a fatal wreck in Lowndes County just after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Loch Laurel Road and Carroll Ulmer Road.
According to GSP, Rahsaan Simon, 40, of Valdosta was pronounced dead at the scene after his Nissan Altima was struck by a Chrysler 200.
Troopers said Natalie Wyatt, 18, of Cairo, was driving the Chrysler east on Carroll Ulmer Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the intersection at Loch Laurel Road.
Simon was driving north on Loch Laurel Road when GSP said his car was hit by Wyatt.
Wyatt was taken to Archbold Hospital by a private vehicle for non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers said Simon was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and his airbags were not deployed. They also said that Wyatt was wearing a seatbelt and her airbags did deploy.
GSP's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and the investigation is still open and active.
