Sheriff's office: Man killed in Douglas shooting was absconded sex offender

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - New details continue to surface about a fatal shooting in Douglas.
Coffee County Sheriff's Office officials said none of their deputies were inside the room when William Goodwin was shot.
The sheriff's office also confirmed they were serving arrest warrants after Goodwin failed to maintain requirements for his sex offender registration status.
The incident occurred at a residence on 1st Avenue July 14.
Goodwin's body is at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon for an autopsy.
Investigators said more information will be released once the autopsy results are finalized.
