Prepare for traffic delays as crews work on Lowndes Co. bridge

LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - A busy bridge over Interstate 75 in Lowndes County will be undergoing rehabilitation this week and that means traffic delays for drivers in the area.

Crews will close the right outside lane of I-75 near Loch Laurel Road Bridge at 7 p.m. each weeknight and it will reopen at 7 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, the bridge will close at 8 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday.

The rehab project includes heat straightening a steel beam, replacing bearing assembly and installing new anchor bolts.

The project costs just over $275,000 and should be finished by the end of the month.
