Phoebe-Sumter closer to opening cross country trail

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Construction at the new Mattie H. Marshall Cross Country Trail is taking shape on the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center campus in Americus.

The facility posted photos on its Facebook page Tuesday.

The trail will include a one-mile loop and a quarter-mile loop, and under a blue tarp is a large zen garden sculpture that local artist Jeff Williams is building.

Phoebe Sumter officials said they can't wait to welcome walkers and runners this fall.
